Mason is growing like a weed. Well, a chubby weed. He went from being almost off the charts to, I think, the 5th percentile in weight just recently. An awesome achievement no doubt. The G/J surgery was worth it but we continue to have challenges in that area along with getting him to eat. Our biggest challenge here in Wichita is finding someone willing to take Mason's stomach challenges on. We find that most doctors are interested but with his overall heart condition they are not comfortable doing certain procedures, tests, etc.....Or at least we can't find an anesthesiologist who is. We continue to press on. If his stomach is the biggest issue we have to deal with right now, I guess we can't complain too loudly. However, I want someone to help my son!
That said the kid never ceases to amaze us. He is a natural born clown and I am okay with admitting he gets that from his dad. He has taken a liking to wrestling and I can't hardly pick him up now without him trying to push me over. He knows roughly 25-30 words now too. Half of which come from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. "O'Toddles" to name one. He recently learned part of a Justin Bieber song so not only do I get to listen to that from Mia, now my son is singing "Baby, Baby, Baby, Oh........". I am sure there are more but I don't want to make this too long. We did go to a pumpkin patch recently so we thought we would share those photos along with some others. Enjoy!
Ignore the thumb and pay attention to the chubby cheeked one!
This picture was taken by a complete stranger at the pumpkin patch. From left to right: Mason, Mia, Amy, and Baldy.

This one is for Amy. She hates washing syringes each week and she thought she would take a picture of Mason's weekly syringe stockpile so you could feel some of her pain too!
OMGoodness! He looks so GREAT! I love coming on here and seeing that you guys are doing so well! The syringes on the other hand not so much! I remember when we had those too! Just not so many! Thanks for all the updates! Take care! You guys are doing great!

OMGoodness is right! He looks amazing! My kids are all clustered around the computer looking at his pics and can't believe how much he has grown. :) Poor Amy...that is a lot of syringes. You help her wash them, right? Right? :)
ReplyDeleteThere is another baby in the hospital at U of M right now with HLHS that looks so much like Mason did when he was there. His parents have a blog http://bowensheart.com/ .
Glad things are going well for your little man. :)
THOSE CHEEKS! I love them! He looks awesome, and 25-30 words, we need to get him and Jillian in the same room so he can teach her a thing or two! SO happy to see you out and about like a "real" family. Remember last year? We wouldn't take our kids any where! What a difference a year makes! I couldn't be happier for all of you. Amy-I love the long hair! You look so different.

Everyone enjoyed their time with all of you during your visit to Albany. Getting to see how he's grown and is talking so much was amazing. We love you and can't wait to see you again.Love Granny & Grandpa Jerry.
